Those were the days

There was a time - IT belonged to men.
They did believe that they were cool and clever
And, therefore, would stay in charge forever...
They didn’t know how stupid they were then!

The Time Almighty passed and changed the specs
Through “Alt+Control+Delete” on all the pages.
The Blueprint, that was nice & blue for ages,
Got painted pink (!) to please the fair sex.

All hell broke loose in our databank,
And horror fell on Earth in lethal doses -
Screensavers featured cats, and hearts, and roses
And not a single rocket or a tank!

Heroically, men would try to fight,
Installing firewalls on all devices
And cutting all the accesses to slices -
But nothing could avert the horrid plight.

It was too late for sorrow or remorse -
The train of power play had left the station,
And left behind a total devastation,
Inflicted by the women’s Trojan horse.

They came, and saw and conquered all domains
Dot.com, dot.int, dot.org - and all the others.
In their lonely graves, our founding fathers
Were slowly turning their own remains.

The Fate (a woman also) pulled a gun
And fired warning shots, without a warning.
And then, the final log was slowly dawning -
The war was over and the ladies won.

The overheated datacenter’s haze
Will hide away our not so manly tears.
The days of old will get our heartfelt “cheers!” -
Those were the days, my friend, those were the days!..
